Maxicard Canon module

To provide photos for ID-card uses, the video camera or a webcam is still the mostly used solution. Principal reason for this is the comfortable positioning of the person using the live camera picture. Then the videopicture is merely frozen as a snapshot and the picture is transmitted to the suitable use.

However, the video acquisition also has some clear disadvantages:

• The demands for the surroundings light are very high
• The colours are falsified according to background and object colour very much
• Video cameras with good autofocus are expensive
• A videograbber is mostly necessary to the digitization

The Maxicard Canon module combines the benefits of a video camera (live picture) with the benefits of a high quality digital camera (high image quality).

The result are pin sharp, due to the photoflash-functionality, perfectly exposed photos, which are suitable ideally for the production of photo identification cards.

You do not need a frame grabber, since the digitisation happens in the camera. The picture is transferred directly over the fast USB-interface into the application.

Photoflash-function and the optical zoom can be operated over the software comfortably.

Through the twain-standard, the module is compatible to the cardfive-software, but also other twain-interoperable applications, e.g. Photoshop.

The Maxicard Canon module works fine with various Canon digital cameras as for example the Powershot SX110 IS.
